Father's Day is this weekend and if you haven't decided how to show your appreciation for the father figure in your life, below are a few ideas. This June 15th there are a great selection of activities and events you can do with your Dad. Plus, some places and events are giving special deals or freebies to fathers to celebrate!

On Father’s Day, dads get in free to see the “Superheroes: Icons & Origins” exhibit. Dads also receive a ToonSeum gift. ToonSeum will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Kids aged 12 and under get in free (as do dads on the 19th); admission costs $4 for everyone else. Help Dad “celebrate the art of cartooning” on his special day at ToonSeum.

You’ll even get to see the new baby sea lion pup that was just born last week. Dad gets in for free on Father’s Day (Sunday, June 19th) when accompanied by a child. The zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (the gates close at 4:30 p.m). While dad gets in for free on his special day, admission costs for other adults is $14; kids aged 2-13 get in for $12.

Annual North Side Community Pirates Night

If you are looking for a fun office or after work activity, check out the 26th Annual North Side Community Night on June 18! The event is a Pirates game and tailgate party hosted by NorthSide/ NorthShore Chamber of Commerce . Ticket prices include an event t-shirt, game ticket, tailgate food and beverages.

If you purchase 25 or more tickets for your company, your name will appear on the shirt and scoreboard! However tickets must be purchased today, June 4 to get the shirt sizes you request. For more information call 412-231-6500.

The 16th Annual Entrepreneur's Growth Conference

Recent Report Shows Office Space in Pittsburgh

Office location is an important part of any business. The demand for office space in and around Downtown Pittsburgh is growing. However, the vacancy rate for Class A offices is lower than New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and other in-demand cities according to a recent Jones Lang LaSalle report. 

Downtown Pittsburgh — at 5.2 percent — had the second lowest vacancy rate for Class A space among downtowns in the United States last year. The only one lower was Bellevue, Wash., at 3.9 percent.

"Downtown Pittsburgh is one of the tightest markets in the country," said Jason Stewart, Jones Lang LaSalle executive vice president.

Tighter than New York (12.8 percent vacancy rate), Boston (11.1 percent), Chicago (14.3 percent), Los Angeles (19.2 percent), San Francisco (9 percent), Seattle (12.9 percent), Austin (14.5 percent), Dallas (23.9 percent), Denver (12.7 percent), Charlotte (8 percent), Cincinnati (23.5 percent) and Columbus (16.1 percent).

It's not only Downtown that is doing well.

At 10 percent, the overall Pittsburgh metropolitan market had the third lowest vacancy rate in the U.S. last year, according to the CBRE real estate firm. The only metro areas lower were San Francisco at 8.6 percent and Manhattan at 8.5 percent.
