Ever wonder how much your business is worth?  Come and enter into the magical world of valuing a business, where mathematical sciences are integrated with art.  We will see the basic components used in establishing a Fair Market Value of a business, explore the factors that can influence the interpretation of the data, and provide each participant with a "rule of thumb" estimate of the value of their business.  Several examples will be provided.  Come join in - it's fun!

11th Annual Conference for Minority

The MWDBE (Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises) Governmental Committee extends an invitation to First National Bank to participate at this year’s 11^th Annual Conference for Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to be held March 1, 2012 at the IBEW Conference Center.

You can participate in this event by staffing an exhibit table (no charge). Each year the committee sponsors an business opportunity fair that connects MWDBE companies with purchasing agents, supplier diversity representatives, and other businesses that can offer contracting opportunities for MWDBE companies.

T Station Expands Travel on North Shore and Offers Free Rides!

Thanks to a funding agreement between the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rivers Casino and Port Authority the "T" will be offering a Free Fare Zone along the North Side of Pittsburgh for easy access to Heinz Feild, and the Rivers Casino.

A funding agreement between the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rivers Casino and Port Authority—brokered by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald—will provide free rides on the T light rail system between downtown Pittsburgh and Allegheny Station.

The three-year agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Rivers Casino will extend the T’s Free Fare Zone to Allegheny Station when it opens on March 25. The light rail vehicle station is located near Heinz Field and Rivers Casino on the North Shore.

House adopts Wheatley amendment to transportation bill

On Monday, the state House of Representatives adopted my amendment that would help veteran-, women- and minority-owned businesses compete for a share of public-private partnership transportation projects.

Wheatley’s official page says:

"It is vital that the new area of public-private partnership transportation projects be inclusive and give our veterans as well as women- and minority-owned businesses a fair opportunity to compete for these projects, which would be financed in part through their tax dollars”.

Entrepreneurship: The Most Conservative Career Move You Can Make

RCI follows Moneyning.com as it dives into the realm of entrepreneurship to 'bust myths' to teach you the 'Understanding of the risk of jobs", and how to make the appropriate "Conservative choices".

There’s a myth that goes along with getting a job: you work hard and your employer will take care of you. Maybe if you work particularly hard, you might eventually get promoted. As long as you’re doing your job and doing it right, you’re guaranteed to get a pay check. That makes finding a good job the most conservative thing you can do with your career, right?

The truth isn’t so simple, though. Even if the myth of the good job was true in our parents or grandparents’ day, it’s become almost impossible to believe in now. With the sheer number of companies that rely on contractors, the number of mergers that end with layoffs and all the other ways that a job has become a surprisingly fragile career path, it’s important to recognize that taking job after job can’t be considered a conservative way to make a living.
